Insomina affects millions of people;
Sleep disturbances affect about
25% of adults and 50% of senior citizens
in the United States, who report difficulties falling or staying asleep and therefore do not get the rest that they need. Almost everyone has experienced occasional difficulty falling asleep due to life changes and stress.
Recent studies have indicated that relaxation strategies are generally superior to the use of sleep medications which can become habit forming and lead to feeling groggy in the morning. Relaxation is beneficial, but it is even more important to help people diminish the ruminations that typically make sleep difficult.
Sometimes it seems like the harder you try to get some thought or memory out of your head, the more difficult it becomes. As the minutes tick by, thoughts seem to take over and grow increasingly larger and all-consuming. Little doubts about yourself, your abilities, your relationships or any of a thousand things grow out of all proportion and make life miserable. This kind of negative circular thinking keeps many people from getting to sleep at night.
If you lie awake at night worrying about things that may happen in the future, or replaying scenes from your day (or past) in your mind, a relaxing hypnosis session may be just what you need to get a good night's sleep.
I have designed a relaxing and restful session which uses hypnosis to reduce rumination, encourage relaxation, and enhance sleep. A CD is included with the session to use when you occasionally have trouble falling asleep.
